This is a sponsored post on behalf of Pinot’s Palette Naperville. All experiences and opinions are my own.
In no way am I an artist. And I don’t tend to relax well. So I wasn’t sure that I was going to do well at Pinot’s Palette with my friend, Danielle, last weekend as we both took time from our busy schedules to unwind, catch up, and paint. This Sunday afternoon paint was a perfect way that we could catch up and both be creative (she is a PRO at the painting and was very encouraging when I got all flustered). I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to shut my brain off from the “perfectionist” long enough to channel the “artist” and just have fun with it. But fun we did!
Pinot’s Palette is in the heart of downtown Naperville, and it’s a light and bright space. When we arrived, there was a place next to the windows all reserved for us, our paints were ready, and all we needed to do was grab an apron, stash our things in a cubby, and get ready to paint. There is a bar where we could have grabbed a glass of wine if we wanted, but it was a little early in the day for both of us!
As we began, there was an expert instructor at the front of the class, microphoned, giving us VERY simple step by step instructions on how to do EVERYTHING. Plus, there are helpers that walk around and make recommendations so that your masterpiece turns out just the way you want it.
The great thing about Pinot’s Palette is that they want you to have a finished product that looks like the instructors – if you want to. If you are super artistic and decide that your flowers or whatever should be in a different place of a different color – GO FOR IT!.
I was SO RELAXED during the entire 2+ hours of painting. For someone who is always thinking of the hundreds of things that I am supposed to be taking care of at any given time, the fact that none of it was rolling around in my head and I was able to just LAUGH and PAINT without a care in the world was AMAZING. I didn’t check my email or text messages. The majority of the time, my phone sat in the pocket of my apron and I just was PRESENT.
It was amazing. And I want to go back every chance I get.
Pinot’s Palette is really focused on helping people take a few hours to disconnect from their hectic lives – especially couples – and reconnect with each other by doing something fun and creative. I know my typical date night consists of the movies and a Target run; not things that are really conducive to “connecting” with each other. In fact, they just released this adorable video talking all about the need to #DisconnectToReconnect. Take a look:
I love the message – disconnections are everywhere but we need to take time out to reconnect with each other. Whether it’s your significant other or a friend that you don’t get to see often (like Danielle and I), a few hours over a paint brush and (maybe) a cocktail can have you laughing and reconnected in no time at all!

If you live outside of the Chicagoland area, you can head over to the Pinot’s Palette corporate website for a location near you.
Here’s my finished product – and I love it! It matches perfectly in one of my girl’s rooms, and that’s where it will get hung!
I can’t wait to go back ~ maybe we will see you there!
